Jay-Z To Form Roc Nation Sports, Robinson Cano Signs As First Client

Jay-Z's empire just got a little larger.
Roc Nation announced Tuesday (April 2) that Hov will be heading a new extension of the company called Roc Nation Sports with New York Yankees pitcher Robinson Cano who will serve as their first client, ESPN reports.

Roc Nation Sports is also pairing up with CAA Sports to represent Cano. Jay-Z will look over Roc Nation Sports with Juan Perez as President.
According to The New York Post, Jay-Z is looking forward to the big move. "Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a sports company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years." said Mr. Carter.
Cano has also released a statement about his new management. “I am confident that the pairing of Roc Nation Sports and CAA Sports will be essential in helping me accomplish my short- and long-term goals. I am making this important decision now so I can keep my focus on helping the Yankees succeed in 2013, while minimizing any distractions for me and my teammates."
Roc Nation currently represents some of the biggest artists in music including Rihanna, Wale, J. Cole, and Shakira, making this power move into the sports industry a no-brainer for the rap mogul.
