Shakira Responds to Ex-Boyfriend's $100M Lawsuit

Shakira's former boyfriend filed a lawsuit against the Latin singer for $100 million last November.
Antonio de la Rua and Shakira dated for eleven years, between 2000 to 2010. During their courtship de la Rua alleges he served as her unofficial manager, brokering lucrative business deals for the "Whenever, Wherever" singer.

Shakira and her lawyers finally hit back, and the 36-year-old Voice coach says she owes her ex nothing because she was already an international star by the time they started dating. The Colombian native had already released four albums by by the new Millennium, with the last of those four Dónde Están los Ladrones? dropping in 1998 and selling some seven million copies to date. The album also garnered her a 1999 Grammy nomination for Best Latin Rock Album.
Shakira claims de la Rue was never appointed her manager, nor did he ever sign anything that stated he was her manager. She admits he advised her on some decisions, but the only agreement that the two had signed was a sort of pre-nup in her native Colombia that said they'd each keep their own assets if they split.
Shakira, who welcomed a baby boy with FC Barcelona soccer player Gerard Pique this past January, is seeking that the expensive lawsuit be dismissed.
