Project Runway
has been a go-to for fashionistas for 10 Seasons, but the new season
brings a different type of style to the runway. As 16 contestants
compete for $100,000 from L’Oréal Paris to start his/her own line, they
learn to work together in team challenges while ensuring their own
garments stand out to judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia and Zac Posen. To
help us navigate each episode, we brought in Lindsay Ebbin, Global
Creative Director of Vibe Beauty to comment on the looks and give a
recap of the special moments we missed.
Fashion and Beauty Trends
In keeping with the theme of affordable couture, the pre-selected design team duos were instructed to create a look for seniors that was fashion appropriate and showed off their best assets.

Heidi Klum’s wardrobe throughout the episode was inspired by cream
and geometric shapes; her makeup included heavily lined eyes, dewy skin
with a perfect foundation palette throughout. Her creamy pink nude lip
added to her ensemble.
The Winner
The winner of the challenge, Stanley Hudson is a stylist/costumer who created a bolero navy black jump suit that made his attractive senior model a standout. Her warm grey makeup palette and shorter hair style provided elegance and sophistication that the other models lacked.

The Judges
The most hilarious comments came from Fashion Police matriarch, Joan Rivers. In serving as guest judge, her critiques about Stanley’s outfit were not only funny, but spot on. She even told Stanley his model’s flawless outfit made her looked like a second wife. Her comments turned the show into a blend of Fashion Police and Project Runway, creating a comedic fashion show.

The Loser
Unfortunately everyone can’t be a winner, and Richard Hallmarq was sent home. Richard lost because of a lack of pizzazz in his ensemble. His teal evening look was fitted but constricting; with a high neck line it looked appropriate for a wedding but was not what the judges we looking for. It’s a shame, given he was a Project Runway rising star. Although there was an air of shock from his fellow designers of his departure, I’m sure his talents will take him far in life.

Tune in next week as the designers travel back to high school.
