Justin Bieber Cancels Portugal Concert

After a trying week in London, Justin Bieber has cancelled one of two scheduled shows in Portugal for the international leg of his “Believe” tour. The singer was scheduled to perform at the Pavilhao Atlantico arena in Lisbon tonight (Mar. 11) and tomorrow night (Mar. 12), but has cancelled the second appearance according to an announcement by the show’s promotion company, Everything is New.
While “unforeseen circumstances” was cited as the reason for cutting the show, speculations have been made that Bieber’s second Portugal appearance had not sold out. A Portuguese newspaper reported that “insufficient demand” for the concert had been the cause of the cancellation. Bieber, who is known for making statements via Twitter, addressed the speculation by tweeting, “Lisbon, Portugal today. #BELIEVEtour #SOLDOUT.”
This latest controversy follows an eventful week for Bieber in London. After being kicked out of a club on what he regarded as the “worst birthday ever,” the singer’s stay was filled with unfortunate events. He was boo’ed by fans after arriving late to a show at the O2 arena, treated for collapsing on stage, and involved in an altercation with paparazzi on the day of his final performance.
It seems like Europe isn’t being too kind to the Biebs. Perhaps the rest of his overseas appearances will begin to look up. He is scheduled to return to the States on Jun. 22 for the remainder of the tour, which ends in Atlanta on Aug. 10.
