India's
professional cricket league -- formerly called the Indian Premier
League (IPL) -- planned to have Latin pop diva Jennifer Lopez take part
in this year's opening ceremony.
According to the New York Post, "Jenny From the Block" allegedly made too many high-priced demands for the cricket tournament, now in its sixth year of existence.
"The demands were outrageous. She effectively priced herself out of the event. It was idiotic because the audience for this event is huge," a source said. "It's like the Super Bowl halftime show. Last year, it drew 56 million viewers."
The 43-year-old Bronx native was said to have requested a private plane and dozens of hotel rooms for herself and guests. Lopez's spokesperson says the offer was declined because she is busy working on her eighth album. Her last album was 2011's Love?.
Pitbull has replaced Lopez as the headlining act for the opening ceremony, which will take place on April 2 at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata, India.
