A private plane that departed from Rochester, NY on Friday (Sept. 5), has crashed 14 miles northeast of the Jamaican Coast, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reports.
A Socata TBM-700 failed to respond to air traffic control around 10am and was reportedly flying at an altitude of 25,000 feet above the Caribbean Sea. The plane's destination was Naples, Fla. but two F-15 fighter jets were ordered to search for the aircraft once they loss communication with the cockpit.
No word on how many passengers were onboard.
UPDATE:Buzzfeed reports that two people onboard the private plane have died. A local Rochester news anchor, Rachel Barnhart, identified them as Larry and Jane Glazer, owners of the small aircraft.
