William and Kate name son George Alexander Louis



 

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate have revealed their new born son's name.

Kensington Palace said in a short statement this evening:

'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son George Alexander Louis. The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.

Dickson’s aide kidnapped in Rivers


Gunmen yesterday abducted Special Adviser to the Bayelsa State governor on Energy, Mr. Olice Kemananabo. Kemananabo, an electrical engineer, was a one-time general manager of the state electricity board and a supporter of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson.
According to investigations, Kemananabo whose family resides in Port Harcourt, Rivers was said to have been kidnapped around D- Line area, yesterday evening.
The gunmen were said to have whisked him away and no contact had been established with the family by the kidnappers. It was gathered that the news of his kidnap, which had filtered into Yenagoa, was causing panic among Bayelsa State government officials.
A member of the state executive council who is close to Kemenanabo but does not want to be named said he had been trying to call him but his phone had been switched off.
Sources in Government House said Governor Dickson had already been briefed about the latest development.
A source said some members of the state executive council had been informed about the kidnap.
He said the special adviser on security to the governor was making efforts to get more details about the kidnap.
Meanwhile, the three members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) kidnapped in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State have regained their freedom.
The police anti-kidnap squad rescued them.
Gunmen kidnapped the victims, a female and two male at Ogonokom Secondary School in Abua/Odua about eight days ago.
Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Angela Agabe, confirmed their release to journalists.
She said the anti-kidnap squad stormed the kidnappers’ hideout in a remote village in Abua and rescued the kidnapped corps members.
According to her, the police arrested two of the kidnappers.
She said further that the arrested suspects were presently undergoing interrogation.
It was gathered that the kidnappers were a group that went by the name freedom fighters.
It was also gathered that when the suspects abducted the victims, the group told them that they were kidnapped to press home their demand from Rivers State Government to create employment for the youths in the state.

Cleric asks Jonathan to okay anti-gay bill

The Bishop of St. Peter’s Anglican Catheral Asaba, Delta State, Rev Justin Mogekwu, has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to sign into law, the anti-gay bill passed by the National Assembly.
The cleric made the call, weekend in his sermon at the Cathedral, during a funeral service for mother of Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, NIALS, Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, the late Mrs Angelina Azinge.
Mogekwu condemned same sex marriage, describing same as evil and a curse from hell.
He said: “Same sex marriage is a curse from hell; it is not a human right. Imagine what would have happened when  your  father wanted to marry your mother and said to his own father, dad, I have seen the person I want to marry and he said, ‘fine, bring the person home and let me see her.’ And then he goes to bring one Isaiah,  saying,‘ dad this is my wife to be.”

Children kill mother over alleged witchcraft

THERE was confusion in Lampese Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, which shares a boundary with Kogi State, when two children of the same parents, identified as Omolayo Ojeifo(25) and her younger brother, Taiye (20) reportedly lured their mother identified as Mrs. Itowo Ojeifo to a farm road and killed her.
It was gathered that Omolayo has had a running battle with her mother, whom she accused of being the reason  she had not prospered in life and also being a witch.
She was said to have apologised to her mother few days to the dastardly act and pleaded that she was misled into believing that her problems were caused by her, but unknown to the deceased, she was being tricked into her untimely death.

Man axed friend to death over Okada proceeds

A middle aged man, Deji Yussuf, has been arrested by the Police in Ondo State for allegedly axing his friend, Tope Ezekiel, to death and thereafter poured acid on him over argument on proceeds from commercial motor bike popularly known as Okada.
The family of the deceased said their son owned the Okada and was keeping the proceeds with the suspect on daily basis with intention of using it later to buy another Okada.
However, police source said the story is the other way round, that the suspect owned the motor bike.
Investigations showed that the suspect and the deceased who were close friends had been living in a room apartment at God’s Glory Layout, Eyin Akpata in Akure metropolis for four years before the ugly incident.
The police said on the ill-fated day, one Owonifari came to report that one Deji Yusuf said he heard the grand mother of the deceased shouting for help and when he got there, he met him in his pool of blood.
According to the police, on inquiry the suspect admitted killing Tope with an axe and thereafter poured acid on him. The Police image maker, Wole Ogodo, said the suspect is currently in police custody and undergoing interrogation, adding that the he would soon be charged to court for murder.

Robbers kill hotelier, 3 others in Ajah



Suspected robbers struck yesterday in a hotel at Ajah in Lagos killing four staff members of the hotel including the owner, simply identified as Lanre. The incident which occured at the popular “O” Hotel, on Berger road promptly created confusion in the neighbourhood.
According to eyewitness account, the rampaging robbers also set ablaze vehicles parked inside the premises of the hotel by lodgers. It was further gathered that some people sustained injuries during tha attack. Daily Sun gathered that the robbers numbering about eight armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the hotel on revenge mission.
