Will Smith Explains Why He Really Passed On 'Django'

Any film buff knows that Will Smith was originally pegged to play the role of vengeful slave Django in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, but he turned it down. The actor's initial reasoning for declining was the good ole “scheduling conflict.”
Smith, however, recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he passed on the flick because: “Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead. The other character was the lead! I was like, ‘No, Quentin, please, I need to kill the bad guy!’”
Real talk or just jokes?
Django scored Oscar trophies for Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Screenplay at this year’s Academy Awards. And Big Willie thinks it’s well deserved. “I thought it was brilliant. Just not for me,” he said of the flick.

A former student has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the 67-year-old yoga guru, alleging that he came onto her over the course of four years.
According to Sarah Baughn’s court claims, Bikram once ”pinned her against the door, and sexually assaulted her by kissing her neck, chest, and face, and grinding his penis against her leg.”
Bikram’s other alleged advances toward her include whispering in her ear, gifting her a Rolex watch and saying the pair knew each other in a past life. She also claims he told her: “I need someone to spend time with me. To give me massages. To talk to me. To love me. To have sex with me. I need someone to take care of me so I don’t die.”
Baughn, 29, says the instructor then started treating her differently in front of class after she turned down his advances.

Beyoncé took a stand for marriage equality on Instagram last night (March 26).
The "Single Ladies" singer posted a picture of a remixed version of her 2008 hit. "If you like it, you should be able to put a ring on it" she wrote, adding "It's about time #equality #prop8 #marriageislove". Bey ended her short, but sweet letter pledging to unite for marriage equality. The picture caused a bit of controversy from people who commented that Beyoncé is going against her Christian beliefs with her new stance. This all comes following the Supreme Court debate on Prop 8, which prevents same sex couples to the right to marry legally in the state of California.
Her hubby Jay-Z spoke out about the issue last spring, saying "I've always thought it as something that was still holding the country back. What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That's their business. It's no different than discriminating against blacks. It's discrimination, plain and simple." The Carters have spoken.

Simpsons Writer-Producer Don Payne Dies

Emmy-winning writer and producer, Don Payne, passed away last night (Mar. 27) at his home in Los Angeles
Payne was a producer for "The Simpsons" and wrote "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," and 2007's "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer." He worked on nine Simpsons episodes after joining the team in 2000 as a consulting producer.
The beloved writer is survived by his wife, Julie; their sons, Nathaniel and Joshua; their daughter, Lila; his mother, Barbara Payne; a brother, John Payne, and a sister, Suzanne Fanning.
Payne's family is hosting a memorial service this Friday in Los Angeles.

Joie Manda Resigns As President At Def Jam Records

A new chapter is on the horizon for Joie Manda as he announced his resignation as President of Def Jam Records to join Interscope Records (Mar. 28). Manda will serve upon relocation to Los Angeles, Calif., as President of Urban Music.
Billboard.com reports:
“Despite having to move back to Los Angeles for personal reasons, I am truly grateful to Barry, John and Jimmy Iovine for this exciting new opportunity," Manda said in a statement. "I've learned a lot from Barry in the last year and am very appreciative of everything he has done for me. I am now looking forward to being part of the Interscope family, a company uniquely positioned for success despite this challenging marketplace."
Manda spoke with Billboard.biz and said he’s “excited to roll up my sleeves and get to work. They’ve done a great job with Kendrick Lamar and I’m really excited to build on that success.”
When he was announced as President of Def Jam Records on March 14, 2012, Manda said, “Running Def Jam is the greatest challenge of my career.” During his residence, the record company released three number one albums from 2 Chainz, Nas and Rick Ross.
As of now, no new plans were announced for who will fill the next president of Def Jam Records position.

Oluwole Awolowo, the second son of late Yoruba sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo is dead. He died today after a brief illness accordding to his sister, Tokunbo Awolowo.
Saharareporters confirmed that Mr. oluwole died in London hospital where he had been receiving treatment. Until his death Mr. Awolowo was the publisher of the Tribune newspapers.
He was 70 years old.

'RHOA' Star Porsha Stewart Headed For Divorce?

Another reality TV couple is headed for divorce. TMZ reports that Kordell Stewart, the husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta castmember Porsha Williams, has filed for divorce after nearly two years of wedded bliss.
The couple’s struggles to get on the same page regarding having children was well-documented throughout the latest season of Housewives. In one episode, Porsha's fellow cast members accused Kordell of being controlling.
The 40-year-old ex-Pittsburgh Steeler reportedly filed the papers on March 22 at Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia. Per the gossip mill, Kordell apparently missed the RHOA reunion taping. The couple has yet to confirm the divorce.
