The site of the tragic and fatal car accident that claimed the life of actor Paul Walker this weekend has become a memorial site with several people leaving flowers and lighting candles. Walker's Fast And Furious costar Tyrese Gibson showed up at the site on Sunday afternoon, less than 24 hours after the accident. He said nothing, just wept and then left.
News of Walker's death hit several of his friends hard, with many of themtaking to Twitter to express their condolences and disbelief at his tragic end. Walker and his Fast And Furious costars were in the middle of shooting The Fast And Furious 7 in Atlanta, with key Walker scenes set to film next week when production started up again after the Thanksgiving holiday. It is expected that production will not continue as planned.
While at the crash site on the 28300 block of Rye Canyon Loop in Valencia, Calif, Tyrese -- who had worked on 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6, and was filming Fast & Furious 7 with Walker -- took a piece of the crash wreckage home with him. He posted a note with a picture of the mangled memento on his Instagram later.
"I will keep your energy with me forever #AshesOfAnAngel fast family around the world we live you and we love you Paul is the heartbeat of this franchise and were gonna see to it that his energy and presence lives on forever #myhearthurtssobad," the message read with the above photo.
Tyrese also put up his last text exchange with the actor, as well as a video from The Fast And Furious 7 set of Walker celebrating his 40th birthday. (This one is especially hard to watch.)
The car accident claimed the life of both Walker, who was the passenger, and his close pal and driver Roger Rodas. The two went on a joyride following a fundraiser for Walker's charity Reach Out Worldwide on Saturday (Nov. 30) when the red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT they were in lost control, hit a tree and a pole, then went up in flames less than a mile away from their final destination. It is believed that speed played a role in the accident. Rodas was an experienced race car driver who had raced Porsches.
