The 2014 Grammy nominations have been revealed and Jay Z is the leader of the pack.
The Recording Academy listed the Roc Nation CEO in nine different categories Friday (Dec. 6) evening at the Grammy Nominations Concert in L.A. Jay's twelfth studio album Magna Carta...Holy Grail garnered more nominations than any of his previous projects. Since 1999, Jay has been considered for over 50 gramophones -- grabbing 17 total for keeps.
While he may seem like the hip-hop heavyweight of the night, Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore are right behind him with seven nominations going into next year's award show. In addition to joining Jay in the Best Rap album category, Macklemore and Lamar each nabbed Album of the Year and Best New Artist nominations. Jay's collaboration with Beyoncé ["Part II (On The Run)"] goes up against his track with Justin Timberlake ["Holy Grail"] in the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration category. His Watch the Throne counterpart Kanye West only received two nominations for his solo effort Yeezus.
